Two of my favorite birds in New Mexico are the Western Bluebird and the Red-faced Warbler. The Bluebird carries on his back the blue of heaven and the rich brown of the freshly turned earth on his breast. The startlingly pretty Warbler prefers high elevations but interestingly makes its nest in a depression on the ground. The Bluebird nests off the ground as do most birds. Here I envision the two meeting in a tree somewhere – just “dos amigos” having a talk.
