As part of my New Mexico adobe series of paintings, here I bring large cactus plants found throughout the Southwest into a scene of a common adobe house called casita. I find the pre-Columbian architecture of this dry climate blended with Colonial Spanish treatments such as the doors that open to courtyard entrances very unique and symbolic of the history where two cultures clashed and now do their best to co-exist.
